Benjamin Beilman, violin—First PrizeNineteen-year-old violinist Benjamin Beilman is a student of Ida Kava?an at the Curtis Institute of Music and previously studied with Roland and Almita Vamos. Winner of the gold medal at the 2007 Stulberg International String Competition and grand prize winner of the ASTA national solo competition, among others, he is also a Presidential Scholar in the Arts and the recipient of a Gold Award in Music from the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts. Benjamin has recently appeared as guest soloist with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, the Dearborn Symphony Orchestra, and is a featured artist at the Marlboro Music Festival.
Jing Wang, violin—Second PrizeJing Wang is the First Prize winner of the 2007 Irving M. Klein competition, Canadian Music Competition, the Montreal Symphony Orchestra Competition and the Concertino Praga. In 2003, Jing was also nominated as "Le Titre de Jeune Soliste" (Young Soloist Award) of French Public Radio. Wang has made several appearances with the Montreal Symphony, Quebec Symphony, I Musici Chamber Orchestra, the Lorraine Philharmonic Orchestra in France, l’orchestre de Picardie and l’orchestre de chambre de Wallonie. Wang toured the Czech Republic in 2001 and played with the Czech Radio Philharmonic Orchestra in Dvorák Hall. In 2002 he performed with the Moscow State Symphony Orchestra in Tchaikovsky Hall. Wang has collaborated with conductors such as James DePreist, Claus Peter Flor and Yoav Talmi.
Eric Han, cello—Third PrizeEric Han was born in Seoul, South Korea, in 1986. He began cello studies at age 7, giving his ?rst public performance at the age of 10 in George Weston Recital Hall, Toronto. He started his training with Min Ja Hyun in Korea, later studying with faculty members from Vancouver Music Academy, Toronto Royal Conservatory of Music and the Colburn Conservatory. At age 15, Han made his orchestral debut with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra at the Roy Thompson Hall. Han has been the recipient of numerous awards in Canada, including the Tom homas Scholarship, the Kiwanis Strings Division Scholarship and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra Scholarship. He is currently pursuing his Bachelor's of Music at the Colburn conservatory under the tutelage of Ronald Leonard.

Kevin Hu, violin—First PrizeKevin Hu is a sophomore at Naperville Central High School, Naperville, Ill. He currently studies with Cyrus Forough at the Music Institute of Chicago. In 2008, he was a ?nalist of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Young Artists Auditions and placed fourth at the Blount-Slawson National Young Artists Competition. His recent public appearances include guest-solos with the West Suburban, Elmhurst, and DuPage Symphony Orchestras in Illinois after winning their concerto competitions, being featured on "From the Top," an NPR showcase of talented pre-college musicians, performances at the Ravinia Music Festival and Chicago's Day of Music at Symphony Center, and a concert with Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk-Road Ensemble.
Clare Semes, violin—Second PrizeSeventeen-year-old Clare Semes, from Philadelphia, is a student of Choong-Jin Chang, principal violist of the Philadelphia Orchestra. She is a recipient of a Starling Violin Scholarship at Temple Music Prep where she is concertmaster of the Youth Chamber Orchestra. She has won numerous competitions in the Philadelphia area and has appeared as soloist with orchestras including the Bucks County Symphony, Ambler Symphony, Old York Road Symphony, Hershey Symphony, Ocean City Pops and the Macau Youth Orchestra. She has been on NPR’s “From the Top,” Hong Kong's RTHK, “Children’s Corner,” and Philadelphia’s WRTI “Live” and on “Creatively Speaking.” In the summer she attends the Aspen Music Festival and School where she studies with Naoko Tanaka.
Sakura Peatey, cello—Third PrizeSakura Peatey began studying music at 3 years of age in singing and keyboard. She began her cello studies at age 5 at the Toho Music School for children with Kenichirou Yasuda. She has studied with Hakuro Mouri at Toho and Dmitry Feigin from Moscow Conservatory. Peatey currently studies with Andres Diaz at SMU in Dallas on a Meadows Artistic Award Scholarship. As well as being interested in performance of historic classical music, she actively pursues performanceof contemporary composers.
